Crossovers manufactured by Hyundai might not have great tradition, but they are well-designed, durable, and all of them deliver the goods at a price that not many competitors can follow. Today we have chosen 2017 Hyundai Tucson, SUV that hasn’t been launched yet, but a lot of information’s has appeared.
Originally, this car had its debut 12 years ago when the very first Tucson was introduced. Hyundai didn’t wait a long time to make huge improvements thus it launched the second generation in 2009. The brand-new model and the first member of the third generation was introduced with 2016 version which means that it came with lots of upgrades. For the 2017 version, there will be no major updates but we think that it will continue with good sale results, and again it should take one of the top spots in the segment.
Public had a chance to see it at Geneva Motor Show, but at the time, even Hyundai wasn’t sure whether that would be a final version or not. The company was running numerous tests to create a perfect vehicle or at least a crossover that will meet customers’ demands. This means that they had to change a lot but not to go far away and leave the main characteristics. With these new modifications, it may resemble some other vehicles manufactured by Hyundai, such as Santa Fe. Everything has been done to bring it closer to the current design language of the lineup; however, it will still be the old Tucson with recognizable features and overall shape.
New 2017 Hyundai Tucson is going to have several engines offered for different markets, but we guess you are the most interested in the US variants thus we will pay attention to those units. The new model should have the same engines as its predecessors. This means you will see two different powerplants. On one side there is the 2.0l four-cylinder inline-4. The 2.0-liter can deliver up to 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It is not much comparing to some other crossovers but it will deliver the goods and won’t let you down on the open road.
On the other hand, we’ll see the slightly more powerful engine; the 1.6l turbocharged I4. This engine offers 11 HP more than the base option and 195 lb-ft of torque. The second choice comes with brand-new seven-gear DCT transmission system. Besides this, it uses the six-speed automatic mated to both units. At this point, we can’t give any detail about the driving system, and even some sources say it won’t change we cannot be sure about that. One of the possibilities that have been mentioned is the possibility of the introduction of hybrid version. Please hold your horses and stay tuned since this information will be published as soon as possible. Among the most interesting is the Sport trim that comes with the turbocharged engine as standard and we could see this one to be the choice of most drivers.
Fuel economy figures are not offered just yet, but we do not expect to see huge changes over the previous year model. As a result expect to see 23/31 mpg if you choose naturally aspirated engine and up to 26/33 mpg from Eco trim version that uses 1.6-liter turbo unit. Eco version is also available with AWD as an option and in that case, figures drop to 25/31 mpg.
2017 Hyundai Tucson Review
When you put the third-generation Tucson and previous model side by side, you’ll see that new one is much more elegant. The front grille has been reshaped, and there are no vehicles produced by this Korean company with the same grille. Fog lights are placed on the bumper, something that we don’t see so often coming from Asia-based carmakers. One of the coolest things about this car is ‘defogger’. Thanks to this system rear window are always clear, and it won’t cause any problems regardless of the temperature and weather conditions.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson is going to be as spacious as the previous model. This means it’ll offer acceptable ride quality, with plenty of space for all people inside. There are several trim colors and options for the interior, but gray might be perfect. All standard features are there: Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth, keyless starting technology, climate regulation system, etc. Korean cars are equipped with cutting-edge technology, and you should never doubt that.
Release and Price
Hyundai wants to release 2017 Hyundai Tucson when its competitors launch their vehicles. Toyota, Ford, and GMC announced their crossovers are coming on the market in the second half of 2016. Therefore, new Tucson is likely to hit the market at the similar time. Pricing will start at $22,700 but have in mind that if you want fully-equipped Tucson, you should spend several more dollars. Prices can go up all the way to $31,300 for AWD-equipped Limited model. All in all, Hyundai didn’t let us down once again.
