Even the redesigned version of LX 570 was delivered as 2016 model there are reports that the 2017 Lexus LX 570 could be a completely new vehicle. It would be a strange move by Lexus, so we do not expect to see any major changes before 2018 or even 2019 model. The LX started its life as a go-anywhere luxury SUV but in time, it became so expensive that not many people dared to take it off-road.
On top of that, its newest iteration was released last year, and it features a much more aggressive design that also takes from its total ground clearance and approach and departure angles, so it is now a car that doesn’t really make much sense, at least not for those that want to go off-roading. Because of that, rumors started to surface that the upcoming 2017 Lexus LX 570 would be a completely revised car and unlike the current model which uses a truck’s chassis, the new one would be a completely different beast.
The release date is unknown at this point but since there will be no major upgrades we expect it and its smaller sibling, the GX, to be first showcased sometime mid to end of 2016 while the sales would start before the fall of this year. Rumors also suggest that the unibody model and its body-on-frame sibling are going to be sold in parallel in some markets to give their customers a choice.
The price would most likely stay the same, so expect still to pay a massive amount of money for one. The base version will have a price tag of about $89,000, but figures of over $100,000 when equipped with a few extras are more than possible. It is a good question if you would regularly take this SUV on off-road excursions after you invest that much money into acquiring one.
2017 Lexus LX 570 Interior
While this unibody design would hurt the off-road capabilities of this SUV, the car would certainly become much better from pretty much any other angle. It will be a lot better to drive on the road; it will be quite a bit lighter and thanks to that, faster and more efficient and the most important aspect of all, it will offer a much larger cabin than before thanks to the non-intrusive chassis. This time around, we expect it and the upcoming LS sedan to feature very similar interiors as well as a very similar driving experience. However, the LX will offer more room than the sedan as well as a possible 6 or 7 seat version which will further elevate the experience.
Design changes that were granted with the latest redesign are quite appealing and without a doubt the LX does not look like as a stylized brick anymore. Instead, we are getting a much cleaner and more aggressive design than before, all while having better proportions as well. It does offer similar size like before, and we are getting a vehicle that is as long and wide, but the main change is related to a ride height where it is slightly lower than before. The overall look has been improved, so the new car is a lot more aggressive and also quite a bit better to look at.
Upgrades that the 2017 Lexus LX 570 bring are carried over from previous year model, and we could hear more than positive reviews for the redesigned version. At the front large and powerful grille offers recognizable shape that we could see on few models from Lexus lineup, making it very aggressive and powerful. LED technology is used for daytime running lights, headlights and fog lights so you can expect to see latest tech that this car maker has. Looking from the side, we can see strong side steps for easier access to the cabin while the doors are not offering sharp creases this time. Tail lights again use LED tech, and the overall impression is that everything is packed much nicer.
Engine wise, the 2017 Lexus LX 570 again comes with already proven engines as well as probably an all new powertrain for Lexus. The base model would definitely get the same 5.7-liter V8 engine that can deliver 383 hp and not so impressive fuel economy. Expect to see 13/18 mpg but this is not a surprise since we are getting one heavy SUV, about 6,000 pounds heavy. An entirely new eight-speed automatic which will still drive all four wheels to come as a standard on new generation model, so the all-weather capability should be good.
Things that we would love to see on 2017 Lexus LX 570 include hybrid powertrain and since LS sedan comes with one more than capable it could happen. This would also be the biggest change for luxury SUV. If Japanese car maker decides to offer something like this, expect to see 5.0 liter V8 in combination with an electric motor. Total power output of the system will be impressive at 438 hp while the fuel economy could be improved to 16/19 mpg which definitely is not a huge increase but still we will take it anyway.
